Mario Kart could still outsell it. Mario Kart titles have ridiculous legs and sell for years on end. If this is the only Mario Kart Switch is gonna get, expect it to hit 20mil before everything is said and done. Splatoon won't come close, it's nowhere near popular enough in the west
Has nothing to do with Mario Kart being a port. MK8D has almost hit the sales of the original game in just 8 months and is sitting at an attach rate around 50%. Mario is just putting up insane numbers

Possibly a combination of MK8 being a re release, and a new Mario adventure we've been waiting on for a while.
The reason why Mario sold so much is because people were holding out for Mario and would not buy a switch or even play it until Mario released

Turns out it sold 7.5 million to customers the 9 million number was to stores. Still good but makes more sense.

Uh yeah duh. Thats exactly what I just wrote. Nintendo released the actual sales to consumer numbers early today and it was 7.5 million which was more in line with known sales results.
