Back to the Future 3...yeah lets pretend these aren't horribly written one dimensional films....its okay to like that, lets not sit here and act holier than thou.

The Matrix had better writing than anything in '99, and on release was considered one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time from critics. Won 4 academy awards, and presented action better than anything at the time. Sure Jurassic Park was nice, but besides one t-rex, is wasn't pulling anything away from the Matrix by comparison.

Sure there were giants like; Silence of the Lambs, every Disney Classic (Aladdin, 101 Dalamations), The Sixth Sense, etc. But Matrix delivered on something we never seen before. A lot of you on here need to stop pretending like you weren't vibing with the dumbest movies to release in the decade.

Going to see the first one at the theatre not knowing anything about it and walking out like at the end, is still one of my most movie experiences.

They went for the money with the instant sequels, but if they waited on some 'Blade Runner' shyt, they could have fukked nikkas heads up with updated SFX and technology. shyt could have had an even deeper meaning, the way everyone is plugged into some sort of screen nowadays too.

I can understand a young nikka saying this who didn't get to see it in theaters. But when that shyt dropped it was the pinnacle of sci-fi and CG, creating a whole new standard. For that alone it's "stickied" in the top 10. Forever a classic.

The first film is a classic. If it seems dated to you it's because a lot of the computer jargon is dated as fukk along with mainstream ideas of what internet/hacker culture was and would be. Also hundreds of films tried to copy the Matrix's style and failed horribly, knockoffs tend to dampen the appreciation of the original.

If you REALLy want to see a movie that doesn't hold up anymore go watch shyt like Hackers, War Games, or the Original X-men movie.

Just rewatched the trilogy last week on Netflix.

Still beautiful fight scenes. That interstate/Merovingian battle still one of the greatest.

Same for me, second had Merv as the main villain for a bit, and they should've stood with that...

Third, had the shoehorned Smith/Bane as the villain and it felt so forced.
