far from a theologian, but i think Yahshua made it plain with the Great Commandment in Matthew 22:35-40:
“... and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He [Jesus] said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. Love God above all else. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
i interpret those commandments and Yahshua’s declaration that ended the verses, and I could be way off base, to mean that all the laws of the Old Testament, all the things the prophets, said and the 10 commandments are all covered by the Great Commandment…if you wholeheartedly and righteously follow those 2 commandments by default your faith in Christ is strong…
to your second question I look at Yahshua’s parable of the talents…the master had 3 servants whom he gave talents (money/currency) and told them to take the talents, invest them, and show the profit the made upon his return…2 of the servants take the talents, invest, and make a profit while the 3rd hides his by burying it…
when the master returns and asks his servants to show him what they’ve done since he’s been away…to the first 2 he says “well done good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, so I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of the lord”…to the 3rd he chastised him, had him give his talent to one of the other servants and told him for unto every one that has, more shall be given and he will have abundance: but from him that have not shall be taken away even that which he has and cast the unprofitable servant unto darkness: there shall be weeping a gnashing of teeth…
i interpret that parable, and again I could be way off, to mean that God blesses each person with talent(s) in the literal sense and expects us to 1. use our talent(s) to honor/bring glory to God and 2. enrich not just ourselves but the lives of our fellow man…this ties directly into the Great Commandment…
so, what does using your talents to satisfy the Great Commandment look like in real life?…you have to figure out what your talent(s) are and figure how you’re going to use them to satisfy the Great Commandment…
i’ve always had a fascination with the mind and how our genetics, experiences, our environment influence our behavior and cognitive processes…naturally i went into psychology and i’m tryna figure out how i can use my talents accordingly…if you’re on your righteous path God will never muddy things…the path you’re supposed to walk will become clear in time…
