Remember being in school and summer break felt like years

Now two months is nothing

I was just thinking about how towards the end of summer I'd start to go a little stir crazy because it would just creep by. Now, those two months feel like a millisecond.

I think we had nothing to worry about in those years. Now our minds are always rushing, thinking about mundane things: bills, money, responsibility.

Two reasons:

1) when you're a kid everything is new. As you get older you've experienced more things and life becomes a routine. Unless you do new things on a regular basis the years start to blend together.

2) as you get older, a year becomes a smaller fraction of the time youve already been alive. When you're 10, a year is 10% of the time you've been alive. When you're 40, a year is 2.5% of your existence.

Think about it brethren. We go to school for 13 years. Then do college for 4-6 years. Thats 19 years of school.

Then upon graduating, we get jobs and work for another 45 years and retire around 65-67.

Then we only have about 8-10 more years of life because the average life expectancy of an american is about 78 years old.

Thats depressing to think about.

My theory is you get used to seeing the same things over and over so your brain sorta clocks out and makes time feel faster as you age... As a kid everything is new so you're alert and paying attention to every thing that happens. So you have a lot more experiences you try to remember each day compared to adults.

:mjcry: B-b-but I don't want to die.

10 years ago I was starting my FIRST job, getting my licence, losing my virginity, planning for prom.

Now I'm married, 2 kids, a job, bills, completely out of sick days at work, and spending 8 1/2 hours a day trying to either not pass out or spazz and lose my job....

What the hell happened??? :mjcry::mjcry:

Imagine finishing college, next thing you know you're married with kids, then you wonder "how the hell am I 52 years old?".
THEN you realize your dad died at 59! Black man has a lower life expectancy than general population. So yeah time is on turbo speed right now
