Most of you probably haven't even heard of her. Her best work was with her husband; the legendary underground filmmaker John Cassavetes. For my money, her performance in A Woman Under The Influence is possibly the greatest ever, male or female.

She's incredible in Faces and Opening Night as well. She was also in a very underrated Woody Allen film called Another Woman.

She's like the biggest inspiration for most of the actresses mentioned in this thread.

Liv Ullmann, the Swedish actress would also have to be up there. Her work with Bergman is flawless.

I'm also a big fan of older, classic Hollywood actresses like Bettie Davis and Katharine Hepburn.

Most modern actresses are nothing more than eye candy, let's face it. Although I give Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett their due.

I mean, I can't really call who's the GOAT actress. :yeshrug:

But, it's amazing how she gets lost in her character and becomes unrecognizable.

Streep is the GOAT actress of the last 30 years.
I have yet to see her give a bad performance.

Gena Rowlands

Gene Rowlands is a very good actress. My favorite flick of hers is Gloria (which Cassavetes also made).
