whenever u do get that sponge if u really want it, be careful not to go overboard woth it unless u wanna start freeform locs. If u got tight 4c type hair itll loc up quick. I caution because i now have a lot of split ends from how much i was rubbing my hair with that thing.

Give it a try but ultimately let ur hair express itself

find u a shorty with shrinkage and get that oiled up scalp rub

First off you don't need a sponge now. Once your hair grows out a bit more you can curl it but as of right now you don't have shyt to curl. Just completely stop brushing and combing your hair. Only comb out the edges of your hairline to keep your lineup fresh a little longer. Otherwise lock them shyts up in a container or some shyt cause you won't need em.
And go get the Cantu Shampoo, Conditioner, Moisturizer and Curl Activator oils to get the curls popping. The curl activator had my curls looking extra
