I know exactly what u talking about, i see tha same pairing play out all tha time in my home state of Alabama. Tht dynamic mostly comes up out of necessity though rather than self hatred. My pops always said he felt cincy was louisville's sister city. Besides, they are right on tha other side of tha river hell.

Wouldn't you know tht Louisville nikkas make fun of our accents in tha deep south, & even though they still a southern city they take cues from up north. For example basketball is tha main sport there instead of football in all other southern cities. They have historical ethnic enclaves like most other northern cities (look up old Louisville, an old German neighborhood with German architecture) even though most of these enclaves of ethnicities have assimilated into just being regular cacs a long time ago.
Louisville's cityscape is also alot more industrial than most other southern cities and has suffered from similar economic decline like rust belt cities (this much is true for bham also)
