I'm going off on a tangent but, 99% of them are descended from tribes south of the border. They're not Lenape, Shawnee, or Cherokee.....they are Aztecs and Mayans. It would be like comparing Italians to Irish people. And that cluster of Aztec/Toltecs/Mixtecs in modern-day Mexico....the reason why they were all there is because that was their version of New York/London/Paris. Tenochtitlan was the largest city in the Americas pre-Columbus. They looked at the Northern Native Americans as backwater clans/tribes as they were more nomadic/moving frequently to hunt game instead of building civilizations in one place. I hate when people conflate the two and act like they're the same. Mexicans claiming the United States has always annoyed me when their ancestors didn't even like it here. They were not leaving Tenochtitlan to come chase Buffalo in modern-day New York lol.
