Westbrook played well once he got settled in. And CP3 will set up Kawhi & PG on the sidelines as all three will be in street clothes for the majority of the year. And that #3 pick from Portland for either PG or Kawhi might be in the air come free agent or draft time.
One of the great posts ever lmao

I think Chris Paul is washed. He would have to take a backup deal sonewhere

He could be the Lakers' starter easily. Limit his minutes but even washed this year he was more reliable than D-Lo or Schroder.

Unless he takes another step back next year (which is certainly possible), then the Lakers signing him for cheap would solve several problems. They could then devote all their assets / draft pick to getting a 3-and-D swing and a backup big.

This would be like 15 years too late at this point

Fùck David Stern

Lakers fans blaming Stern is goofy. If it was up to Stern, the trade would have gone through. It didn't because the owners rebelled en masse and he was forced to respond.

And the original trade would have been ass for the Hornets. The way it worked out, they got two lottery picks (one in the trade and one for the tank) plus Eric Gordon, and one of those picks became Anthony Davis. With the Laker trade they would have gotten a bunch of mediocre talent so they wouldn't have tanked AND they wouldn't have gone anywhere. Declining Odom, declining Scola, meh Kevin Martin, and young Dragic who was about 3 years away still from "breaking out". Lakers pick would have been at the end of the first round, their own pick somewhere in the middle, no Anthony Davis.

The roster in a couple years eventually became:

Jrue Holiday
Eric Gordon
Tyreke Evans
Ryan Anderson
Anthony Davis

Yeah, they never did anything, but at least you have hope with that roster. They "could" have gone deep if Holiday/Gordon/Evans had fulfilled their expectations and AD played up to his ability. Whereas what would the roster have been after the Lakers trade?

Goran Dragic
Kevin Martin
Lamar Odom
Luis Scola
Emeka Okafor

Da fukk is that roster going to do in 2012 or any year forward? They ain't making the 2nd round now, they ain't getting any better in future years, they ain't tanking either....what even would be the point? Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon were BOTH better than anyone on that roster. Let's say they still pull off the Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans, and Ryan Anderson trades....they still would have no hope.

The right thing happened in the end, no matter how bad LA wanted to have 3/5 of the 1st-team All-NBA on the same squad.
