Knowing Biden's history, I rather Thomas hang on for as long as possible, rather than be replaced by another Brown(a pro-cop; anti black labor judge who's just going to dikkride the party mantra).

I'm no fan of Judge Thomas, but it took guts being one of if not the only judge against QI. Especially since he's a diehard Republican, he could've easily just followed his party's line, and been super pro-cop. Not too many officials these days go against their party line, and that should be commended.
