That’s not how it works. SAM’s usually explode in proximity of a target. The shrapnel shreds it causing a loss of fuel, loss of control, and/or causes injuries. They can create conditions that lead to burning and explosions but that’s not the norm. SAM’s are absurdly fast, usually faster than anything they’re aiming for, but it’s still difficult to make a ballistic object hit another ballistic object at a distance.
Some videos from yesterday were claimed to be from some of the passengers phones. They were explaining what happened and showing damage while still flying.

Grozny, which is in Chechnya, is basically a Russian colony or an additional state. They have everything to do with this if a missle came from Grozny.
@BigMoneyGrip if you’re ever bored and want some quick entertainment look up SAM test or launch videos. I always used to think they sped up while cruising but I was wrong as fukk. It’s fukking ridiculous how fast they move straight out of a launch.

I'd be careful taking any news coming out of Europe about Russia at face value. Any claims coming out of Western media about Russia, China and Iran need to be vetted thoroughly.
