Step 2 of the Klutch agenda, get ESPN to deflect the heat off the star player

“Nobody wanted Mike gone. Everyone loved him. Especially Fox. Fox had absolutely zero to do with this decision. I mean zero. Which is exactly why we had to fire him.” :skip:

That’s fukked up to take one phrase out of Fox’s whole statement to reframe and doctor his words for a “gotcha” sound bite.

First of all, the reporter asked if Fox feels “guilt” for Brown’s firing. What kind of loaded ass question is that?

Fox took ownership of the kings play, but he emphasized that he doesn’t decide whether to fire people (ask the owners if they feel guilt) and that the nba is a business where people are cut, traded waived all the time.

Are owners/coaches/GMs routinely asked if they feel GUILT when they cut, trade, or waive players?

That was a ridiculously unfair question. It’s like you want fox to beg and cry over the owner’s/GMs actions.

The biggest problem Fox and Sabonis had with Mike Brown this year was the offense. Mike didn’t want to run designed plays enough and was basically go figure it out - read and react and Fox loves the high pick and roll. The players never bought into the offense. People are blaming the players but this has happened to Mike everywhere he has been - the players get sick of his offense. The Kings offensive genius Jordi left for Brooklyn and the Kings have been ass on offense all year - you put two and two together. You have on offensive roster with a defensive coach and the offense isn’t working. The fact is, it made no sense to not give Mike Brown a defensive roster and expect him to just outscore everyone when that’s not his style.

I maintain the GM should’ve been fired first.

Wow an actual nonobjective post….

Mike is a good foundation building coach but he’s not taking a team to the next level it’s just it what it is

Sac didn’t go about it in the best way but that’s 80_90% of firings in pro sports:manny:

Option 1: Absolutely. You can see the standings. We haven't been playing well enough. If we were playing like Coach Brown wanted us to hed probably still be here. But unfortunately that's the business.

Option 2: No. These sorts of decisions are made above my pay grade. I'm disappointed that this is what happened but management must have felt they needed to make a change. If we keep losing there's not going to be anyone to blame but us.

Option 3: blah blah blah he's still getting paid. :steviej:

Doesn't seem that hard.

He said all that. You’re just splitting hairs.

If you ask if someone “feels guilt”, you’re talking like something diabolical was done to ruin someone’s life.

Adding Derozen was subtraction by addition. That move obviously fukked the vibes up

Again, why aren’t coaches, GM’s, owners, actual decision makers pressed with this guilt talk?

How often are owners and GM's stepping to the mic to talk?

How often are non HC's doing the same as well?

Actual HC of other teams actually did acknowledge the question and gave a response in support to him and they didn't have to resort to giving the shytty, tone deaf answer that Fox did.

I think owners should definitely have to answer more when their teams stink. But coaches and gm’s regularly get fired when things get bad; they're forced to accept accountability whether its their fault or not.

I will say they should be pressing demar and sabonis as well.

Sabonis was asked and answered the question, while giving a better response than Fox did.

Fox is going to garner more attention for obvious reasons due to there being long term questions about him on the roster and being their best player.
