Even if this is true, Jimmy shouldn't have leaked this shyt. These are the type of conversations that should be kept behind closed doors. I bet Jimmy had countless of heart-to-heart interactions where he opened himself up to Pat, staff and/or players throughout the years, and it would've been ugly too if those were put out into the public forum.

I bet the Heat organization did all that they could to allow Jimmy to grieve and support him when his pops past last season.

This is what makes it that more ugly.

I haven’t given my thoughts on this until now.

Both Pat and Jimmy have been petty throughout this ordeal. Neither of them are blameless in how this has been handled.

However, the difference here is that the pettiness goes beyond hoops. I could care less about the drama surrounding who’s ultimately at fault; relationships fracture all the damn time and priorities of both parties end up at opposite ends of the spectrum. Pat has standards that he’s upheld throughout his executive occupancy; Jimmy has pride and principles that he’s not willing to sacrifice for anyone.

That’s life.

What’s ugly here is that this exchange leaked of something personal, that shouldn’t have seen the light of day. That’s between Jimmy and Pat and it’s for nobody else. The Heat would’ve bent backwards to accomodate and support him whilst he went through that grieving process (as they should), and I’d imagine there were many a time that Jimmy was vulnerable during this period. It would’ve been foul if the Heat threw any of that shyt out there into the public forum.

This is why I can’t fukk with this.

YOU MISSED THE POINT.

JIMMY FOUND IT DISRESPECTFUL
AND BIPOLAR
THAT RILEY WOULD TRY TO
USE HIS FATHERS DEATH
AS A WAY TO GET HIM TO RE-SIGN
AFTER SUSPENDING HIM
AND IT MADE HIM WANT OUT EVEN MORE

There was an irony to this. When Butler first came to the Heat in summer 2019, Butler was in Riley's office celebrating the signing of the four-year, $142 million deal that landed him in Miami. The two men cracked open a bottle of Screaming Eagle cabernet from Riley's personally curated wine cellar inside the Heat offices. Riley was telling stories, and he asked Butler who the most talented player he ever played with was. Butler answered quickly: Wiggins, the 2014 No. 1 pick and his teammate with the Timberwolves.

Riley was surprised, those who were in the room remembered, and joked that Butler might need to be cut off from any more wine. But Butler insisted. Wiggins' talent was incredible. Five years later, they were traded for each other.

Here's the problem with this -
Everyone agrees that each meeting contained emotional, heated discussions. The Athletic earlier Friday morning reported that Butler described Riley as "unhinged" during their meeting. However, Heat sources told ESPN that the same word -- "unhinged" -- is how they described Butler's behavior in his meeting with the Arisons.

You're not going to get the complete truth and the unadulterated context surrounding how either of those meetings went down. You can't just believe Jimmy's side of the story as if that's what happened. And let's for argument's sake the topic of Jimmy's pops death came up, and Pat used that as a connection point, how do we know that Pat hadn't supported Jimmy with this manner of vulnerbility at the time it happened and helped him through it? How do we know Pat wasn't just referencing all the moments throughout Jimmy's time in Miami, and wasn't just blatantly using that one example to sway Jimmy to stay?

We don't know what was said during those meetings, and we don't know the exact context in which they were said. We don't even know how much these sources ended up manipulating what was said to them, where they've ended up exaggerating that encounter.

This is why it's better off to just leave these matters in that room and that be that.
