I got fam in the Bay and honestly, the signs were there for Black folks in the late 90s early 00s when the dotcom and other bubbles began pushing up real estate. By 2000, Bay Area was net losing Black population.

In Oakland, the "bad" parts all others would run from, are now heavily gentrified with $1m+ valuations on 2000 Sq ft homes. Reason 12342 why Black folks need to own and not rent. Anyone who owned and held on cashed out. I met a Black janitor at the post office 20 years ago who sold his 50 yo house for $750k and retired down South with his wife. He bought it in 1970 though for like $30k. Renters got fukked once rent control got reformed

Old Fillmore in SF and most of the core of Black Oakland are gone or heading that way.

Black folks in Cali congregating in places like Concord for the ones that left a while back and Tracy/Sacramento for more recent moves. Others hit up Vegas or Phoenix.
