That's why Iraq was quick to the tell the US to get the fukk out of our country once they killed Soleimani because they knew Iran bombing US bases would kill plenty of Iraqi civilians.

To be honest this may be Iran's strategy. If Iraqis start feeling the brunt of this back and forth, the sunnis in Iraq already hate Iran so it's no loss there but they will start to turn on the US too who they will feel is bringing destruction on their lives. It's a way to make the population start to resent the Americans and Iran.

I agree they will be a challenge because the US has to have “ethics” in war and won’t just nuke the entire country. if we struggled with Arab goons in Afghanistan and a fractured population in Iraq, I’d assume Iran would be a tougher opponent simply because they are smart and have better tech then most ME countries.

I think it's clear at this point that this will all blow over in a couple of weeks. Iran has literally fired blanks as a retaliation - after all the uproar it seems they've just launched a few missiles into sand.

Ultimately they know what kind of ramifications there will be if they cause American casualties. It's a war they wont be able to win.

It's also funny how when things like this happen the Twitter brigade shows the world how excited they are by the prospect of war and people dying. I really hope the Russians or Koreans launch a cyber attack on Twitter and delete it off the face of the earth. The world would be a much better place without the cringeworthy commentary from Twitter users.

I disagree only because this was blatantly the government that fired the missiles so the US doesn't have to play nice and look for people in bushes and caves like they typically had to with terrorists. This might be one of the first head up fights the US has had in a while, real war is more savage than that peek-a-boo shyt we do with terrorists groups

Mass civilian casualties and wanton destruction in the Middle East is a definite. Iran had to respond though, back was against the wall.
