In sure the base took a lot of damage but you must know that Israel had like a 8-10 hour heads up..you think they had all their planes just sitting around ready to get destroyed…I’m sure hangars and the runway was destroyed tho…which Israel can fix in a couple of days.

Reports have indicated that the bulk of Nevatim Air Base’s F-35s - over 20 fighters - were destroyed in the attack, with the stealth fighters representing one of the most high value targets in Israel. The facility has been widely referred to as Israel’s “most important air base” due to the importance of the F-35 in the country’s fleet. Israel fields just two squadrons of the costly stealth jets, and relies on them heavily as the remainder of the fighter fleet relies on largely obsolete avionics and old mechanically scanned array radars. F-35s play a central role in Israeli plans for potential attacks on Iran, with their stealth capabilities and advanced avionics, including electronic warfare systems and other air defence suppression features, making them optimal assets for such operations. The destruction of F-35s is thus an important step towards limiting Israel’s ability to respond with further escalation. Although Israel has a third squadron’s worth of F-35s on order, significant issues with production, which remains at a fraction of initially planned rates, has resulted in a very long delivery queue, and means Israel will only begin to receive the newly ordered fighters from 2028.

Yup. Keeping in mind Iran has at least an estimated 3,000 ballistic missiles like this (which is a number from nearly 3 years ago).

If it was an all out, Israel can land the nuke, but Iran will also level them back with pure conventional payloads, not even chemical or biological and this time won't only go at civilian targets.

I expect another stalemate coming basically unless they go for mutual assured destruction.

Like with everything in the news , Israel is downplaying the damage , while Iran is over playing the damage

They think they are untouchable with the iron dome and probably didn't think they would take this much damage so they probably didn't take all the precautions your imagining they did in retrospect lol

1.6 billion dollars in F35s alone and F35s are not mass producible. You can't just replace them. To replace them, is to diminish US current stock. Very different from manufacturing new ones over the course of a few years.

To add to what everyone else said, Iron Dome is mostly designed for simple rocket artillery that doesn’t maneuver mid-flight, like what comes from Al-Qassam/PIJ and most of what comes from Hezbollah. They have the Arrow system to intercept more advanced missile systems but clearly Iranian missiles are faster and too maneuverable for it.

Israel has a lot fewer airbases and interceptors for the airbases than Iran has missiles. Iran’s missiles are also spread throughout the country so they can’t get knocked out in a handful of strikes. If Israel tries that shyt on Iran, Israel won’t have any airbases left.

The Iron dome ain’t really made for ballistic missiles. Everybody knows that Israel air defense cannot withstand an Iran overwhelming missile attack if they go all out..

Israel knows they aren’t untouchable, that’s why they will attack first..
