Yeah, it's really difficult to shoot down missiles.

Destroying other countries with our missiles is easy for us.

However, stopping countries from doing the same to us is the problem. Hypersonics are absolutely overkill because we can't shoot even down traditional ICBM's reliably, especially if they're paired with decoys, chaffs, emp's, drones, etc.

There's a reason we with the combined military strength of our allies don't physically bomb all our enemies to the ground and take over the entire world right now and it's because of "the goodness of our heart".
