O’Neill was absolutely good enough to warrant his number being retired and he was there long enough to deserve it too. His career triple slash in 9 years as a Yankee was .303/.377/.492 in 1254 games. He averaged 184 hits with 39 doubles, 2 triples, 24 homers, & 111 RBI’s per 162 games to go with 4 all star games and a batting title while hitting in the meat of the order on 5 pennant winners and 4 champions. Hell yes he deserves to have 21 retired.
On that note Bernie, Donnie, and Jorge all belong in Cooperstown too. That place isn’t legitimate anyway until it A-Rod,
, Barry, McGwire, Sosa, & Clemens get inducted too.
