I enjoy your threads TFP but I agree with Broke. At the same time, there is a lot we can do to change things within ourselves.

Power is where men believe it is.
We know the racial hierarchy is based on mythical foundations. But so are the majority of our social mores and practices. The superstitions of a species trying to survive.
Acknowledging the basic truth wouldn't help the cotton picking slave avoid a whipping or the innocent man from receiving lethal injection. Some people are not willing to accept what's real mostly because they have a biased worldview based on their own experience. This prevents them from seeing the truth. For example, I feel as though we should look out for others because selfishness breeds neglect, injustice, and suffering. However if the powerful believe that there is no point to helping the less fortunate, if they would rather scheme and manipulate, then there is no point in sharing how I feel because it would be, as Jesus said, "throwing pearls before swine" only to be ripped open.
I'd have to take steps insuring my own survival, playing the game without believing it, just to reach the fulfillment of my ideals. An uncaged soul in a caged body is still not free. A caged soul is worse to be sure, but there's no pride to be taken in inner liberation without outward practicality.
Everything is perfectly imperfect
There's not only negatives to associating yourself with a group. I'm black and proud and none of the racists' expectations could take that away from me.
@TheFemalePerspective I have been in the process of living how I chose instead of how i'm expected. Of course its been difficult because every single thing I say or do is met with resistance. I have decided to eat healthier(giving up the fried foods, pork etc) and was accused of selling out for eating an egg white and turkey sandwich. I also have been getting side eyes for exploring new music. I can understand the weird looks since I only played Dipset and other rap music in front of people but kept my other music tastes a secret. They think i'm changing but i'm just starting to be more open with who i've always been.
