@TheFemalePerspective I appreciate you bringing your views on this subject to this site but consider the context of this forum.

1. It is a mostly black male forum, and many of us harbour resentment towards other races of people due to their historical mistreatment of blacks, especially black males. Before you can ask black males to "let go of race", you have to ask the other people who remind us we are black males every day to let go. This is like telling those Afghan burqa women to let go of sexism; it's a tall task.

2. Race is always secondary to the most important divider in society and that is class. Race and class are very closely intertwined in societies however class is the one that always seems to permeate. This is why Don Lemon can defend stop and frisk and someone like myself considers it to be a great injustice.

That being said, interesting thread

Can you both further elaborate?

Everything the way it is because it needs to be. The imperfection we see in life is what makes us think of things as being unstable or irrational, but it truly isn't. Things happen for a reason and me being on the coli at this exact point in time to tell you this is something happening for a reason.

If you study psychics you'll learn that things could be predicted by the placement of atoms and that our thoughts aren't unique as you think.

Then why does the hierarchy of race still live on today?

Because color is the easiest way for people to differentiate. And after centuries of stigmatization and propaganda about how people of certain color behave, it's (unfairly) subconsciously ingrained in many of us.

Q: How can we break free?

I don't know. But it seems the way to do so is to form your opinions of others based on individual experience.

Power is where men believe it is.

We know the racial hierarchy is based on mythical foundations. But so are the majority of our social mores and practices. The superstitions of a species trying to survive.

Acknowledging the basic truth wouldn't help the cotton picking slave avoid a whipping or the innocent man from receiving lethal injection. Some people are not willing to accept what's real mostly because they have a biased worldview based on their own experience. This prevents them from seeing the truth. For example, I feel as though we should look out for others because selfishness breeds neglect, injustice, and suffering. However if the powerful believe that there is no point to helping the less fortunate, if they would rather scheme and manipulate, then there is no point in sharing how I feel because it would be, as Jesus said, "throwing pearls before swine" only to be ripped open.

I'd have to take steps insuring my own survival, playing the game without believing it, just to reach the fulfillment of my ideals. An uncaged soul in a caged body is still not free. A caged soul is worse to be sure, but there's no pride to be taken in inner liberation without outward practicality.

Thank you for responding kindly. I appreciate that. ITA, that those who have put this system in place should be the first to abolish it, but since they refuse to do so, the very least we can do is reject it. The litmus test of knowing whether or not the system has affected you is paying close attention to when someone who 'looks' like you i.e. from your 'group' commits something cringe-worthy. If you feel embarrassed by it then you no longer have control over your self-worth, since it is in the hand of millions who look like you. That's exactly what the system was designed to do.

Yes, I believe everything happens for a reason, but that doesn't mean we can be complacent about discussing things. If your words can touch one person; that's one person you've helped to change.

Yes you are correct. If change is suppose to happen it will.

And I will be the person who will bring about that change..... in all seriousness
