They took the money anyway, in federal asset forfeiture. And the plea deal would allow him to keep a certain amount of money, but his ego wouldn't let him. Ego and ignorance of how that world works. I

t was nothing but a white collar gentlemens deal until he defied the feds and made it into this whole Greek tragedy saga. He could have pleaded guilty as a formality, never even been arrested, or cuffed or anything. You come to court and plead to an information. Then you walk out, the government gets their win and you move on. His own counsel was indicted for corruption, dude was a Justice Department lawyer.
