diphenhydramine (the active ingredient in Benadryl) is a first generation antihistamine.....I can remember using it for allergies in the past.....it actually works pretty well....BUT....it is a very powerful hypnotic. The first generation antihistamines have, for the most part, been shelved as a result of them having such a harsh effect on people's systems...you mix it with alcohol and it's effects can be doubled or tripled. People would actually take about 400 to 500 mg of this shyt and 'trip out' but they said it would be like being stuck in a nightmare. lol forreal if you sat down and listened to folks talk about tripping on Benadryl you'd wonder how the shyt wasn't prescription
