Was wondering this. Which characters from Breaking Bad have equivalents in Game Of Thrones characters. Unarguably the two GOAT TV shows of the past five years, and thematically similar (the whole 'shades of grey' concept), but any more comparisons between them?

Gus = Tywin - Both ruthless men who know what needs to be done. Great leaders.

Todd = Ramsey - Guess.

Saul = Littlefinger - Slimy, self serving but both deserve the accolade of 'da gawd'.

Mike = The Hound - Seasoned killers with great one liners.

Skyler = Cersei - Slightly deranged, troubled, blonde middle aged woman.

Hank = Tyrion - Both short, both good guys deep down, both badasses.

Marie = Sansa - Doesn't really do much besides complain a lot.

Walt Jr = ...would it be wrong to say Bran?

Can't really think of anyone to compare to Walt. Depending on if the theory that Dany goes down a dark path in her pursuit of the throne, then maybe her. Nor Jesse for that matter. Maybe Jon Snow, both are whiny and their parents are ashamed of them, but good guys.

Nor can I think of anyone who could be Joffrey, Arya or Stannis.

What do you think?

Walt would be Tywin, or maybe Bolton.
Very similar characters, all great players in the game.

GRR Martin actually said Walt inspired him to create a new character.

:krs: Did he say he's putting that Walt inspired character in the next two books or show only?

The way it was worded, the books.

He watched "Ozymandias" and was :whoo:and said in his blog that Walt was more evil than anyone in "Game Of Thrones"....which is obviously an exaggeration, but dude was feeling that ep enough to write a whole blog post about it.....and he said he was working on a character that would be worse than Walt.

I think there are characters on GoT more evil than Walt anyway. Joffrey, Ramsay, Tywin, Roose, Walder, and maybe Cersei and Littlefinger are bigger monsters than him. He did some horrible stuff but those guys have been just brutal.

I wonder if what GRRM means is that he plans to make one of the good guys break bad. That could be pretty interesting, seeing someone I once rooted for become a complete monster (I never really rooted for Walt in BrBa, it was always Jesse then Hank for me). I wonder who? Tyrion, Daenerys, Arya, maybe even Sansa going by how Littlefinger had her wrapped around his little finger in S4, all have potential.

Well like I said he's a huge fan of "Breaking Bad" so I think it was more hyperbole and a compliment than literally "Walt is worse than any character in GoT".

Also you have to look at their respective locales. Given Walt's life, there's no reason for him to do any of the shyt he did. In Westeros you basically have to be a terrible person/killer just to function, let alone what you'd have to do to succeed.

You make a good point. But then half the stuff Walt did was to survive, if you want to say that the ends justified the means. The only example I can think of where this isn't the case is Mike's death, which was totally unnecessary.

That's my point though. He did a bunch of things to survive situations that he chose to get into. Walt could've taken the Gray Matter job in season 1, but his ego wouldn't let him. After that it was a steady downward spiral of doing bad shyt and getting people killed.

The characters on "GoT" typically aren't given much choice, they either adapt or they die. It's not as if Arya is training to be a killer for fun....it's not like Stannis is waging war because he's bored. Most of those characters aside from the obviously psychopathic ones are products of their environment.

Walt was a square, and given what was essentially a free ride with the Gray Matter job....and he chose to do evil, anyway. In some ways that's worse than the more overtly evil characters on "GoT".

Joffrey was worse than Walt, he most definitely did not have to do half the shyt he did. They implied he had some natural inclination to dominate and harm others on the show, it was the only thing he seemed to like.

Walt most resembles Tywin, but he's actually a little more sympathetic imo.

I see what you mean, but the central setting of Game Of Thrones is Westeros, and the central setting of Breaking Bad is Albuquerque's criminal underworld, in which Walt had to adapt or die.

I like to go with the idea that Walt has always been a sociopath, an embittered man partially to do with the Gray Matter situation, and up until the cancer diagnosis and his decision to start cooking meth, he's never really had an opportunity to unleash his inner Heisenberg.

But then Ramsay didn't have to do what he did to Theon. Joffrey didn't have to torment Sansa the way he did. Walder Frey could have forgiven Robb instead of arranging the red wedding.

Either way, for me Walt's worst acts are pretty tame in comparison to some of the atrocities committed in Game Of Thrones.

Joffrey was worse than Walt, he most definitely did not have to do half the shyt he did. They implied he had some natural inclination to dominate and harm others on the show, it was the only thing he seemed to like.

I agree. One of the most interesting things in Breaking Bad was the oscillation between Walter White and Heisenberg. Whereas Joffrey was his equivalent of Heisenberg throughout the whole show. A true scumbag.
