I just find it negligent that they've only been able to retrieve so few bodies.

How is that negligent? Finding the bodies isn't as simple as lifting up a bedframe or moving a couple of pieces of sheetrock. They have to navigate through several stories worth of electrical wiring, plumbing, fires underneath the rubble, etc.

personally, i think something could have been worked out to keep the structure up and get power going again.

They got in contact with some people and the 160 number went down a bit. They weren't in the building.
