Answer this question by not answering the question is there alot of corruption with construction companies and state inspectors?

Honestly this is not as big of a problem as people might think - mostly bc of the potential for catastrophic liability. It's not like you or I pulling a permit for a new bathroom where once the work is done there is a single inspection by the local govt. Every institution involved, at every layer will demand inspections, tests etc. The people financing the project, the general contractors, the insurance/bonding companies involved. You have architects, engineers, environmental studies, testing of materials etc. All components going into the project have gone through rigorous testing etc.

The major issue is lack of preventative maintenance. Governments are terrible at this bc it's not sexy. No mayor or governor can get a politically advantageous photo op + good press for funding preventative maintenance on a bridge. So govts HATE spending money on it bc it takes money away from shyt they can do that helps them win reelection. Then even if an issue is found, the tendency is for everyone involved to immediately try and limit their own exposure rather than fixing the problem. Typical govt inefficiency only compounds the issue. No one wants to be the one raising the alarm bc it might put a target on your back. If your department knew about a problem and down the line someone died, you may be blamed even if the problem didn't originate in your department etc.

Honest question, how would you ever get in trouble posting anonymous info on the coli?
What??!!! Is that a serious question. You’ve never heard of an electronic footprint?? Nothing you post is considered private when you post it and identify it for yourself on the internet, that can be traceable or geo-tracked if he post up coordinates, numbers, names. Do you not understand that people literally have IT jobs for the sole purpose of breaking that wall. I don’t get that - you expect him to be so relaxed as to reveal what he’s not comfortable providing. Like how are you lowkey shading someone for being cautious with technology involving their jobs.

Do you not understand that people died and the liabilities involved? If he posts up a keyword or term that could potentially come across in a scan which lawyers or investigators target on- that’s evidence subject to disclosure. This is a mass tort, product liability , mass casualty event, damages, personal injury - just no. Sheeesh, trying to get the site subpoenaed caught up in a Discovery database, they have to turn over his email, name, sign up info - this is the time to be cautious.

@Akata Man Bromo Don’t do it. But I know you’re already smarter than that not to.

I almost drowned to death and honestly the sheer terror part only lasts a few seconds. Was feeling helpless but then the survival instinct jumped into overdrive....and here I am :jawalrus:

Researcher: High-rise that collapsed was sinking, due for recertification

They are already putting out misleading information to shift the burden of causal liability to the residents from their “experts”. These demons don’t even wait until the bodies are recovered before making assessments . Imagine being trapped under a pile of rubble and broken concrete within an inch of your life, with no way to communicate with your family- while spokespeople are giving interviews about how you should have noticed that your counters are uneven or cracks in your walls. They’re acting Like a simple email to management would have prevented this. All of those oceanfront properties are mirages and money pits, at the end of the day. They build high rises on what essentially are displaced masses of wet sand, the result of coastal erosion over years, labeled as prime real estate - the way that building collapsed it looked like it was imploding into quicksand.

“Cracked walls or shifting foundations can be clues that sinking has affected the stability of a structure, according to Matthys Levy, a consulting engineer, professor at Columbia University and author of “Why Buildings Fall Down: How Structures Fail.”

Residents of the building might have noticed changes, he said.

“Had there been changes in the building? Cracks in the walls, in the floor? Floors not being level, things rolling off tables?” he said. That would indicate the building was shifting.”
