Out here in my damn drawls
Brazilian-born Brown University graduate Kátia Lund, who was working for Lee, was sent to speak to Marcinho and negotiate for protection.

Lund was so intrigued by the favela subculture, six years later she co-directed “City of God,” which was nominated for four Academy Awards.

So Spike is indirectly responsible for the masterpiece, City of God :myman:

Oh, yes ...

...another Sherlock Holmes ass nikka trying to connect dots on some perceived racial biased post and my affinity for fat-bottomed white girls.

Michael Jackson was well past his commercial prime at that point, so going to that extreme to make a music video seems like a waste of time.

He could've made that shyt in the US, but I guess going to a country with a lot of racially ambiguous people is more politically correct.
So artist are supposed to stop creating art because they aren’t in their prime?
HIStory sold about 20 million worldwide.

He shot the prison version in the US.

Racially ambiguous?!
Brazil has a highest population of black people outside of Africa.

1st, Just so you know, he did make a US version, which you can view here: .. he was so washed the label gave him 2 videos for 1 song....

2nd, Michael was never washed and video budgets around this time were insane.

3rd, if you can't see why Mike wanted to film the video in a favela in Brasil.. I don't know what to tell you.

4th, you state that Mike was washed by 1995, "Scream" hit #5 that year, amid the smear campaign the media was running with Mike's name. "Scream" was one of Mike's most successful videos.. But hey, I guess he was washed, even with the media dragging him and all, he still managed to cut thru.

5th, his last album Invincible sparked 2 top 10 singles...

The media made it a thing to hate Mike, but people were still going home and playing his music and watching his videos......

6th "You Are Not Alone" reached #1 on Hot 100 in 1995 making it the most popular song in the country.

Mike was still monster big in the 90s, joints from the history album were everywhere. The media/Jewish mafia really beat his rep up after that though.

WHOA....:ohhh:....now THAT'S some quality trivia right there.

if i lived in the slums of brazil i woulda took that opportunity to rob mike instead of singing and dancing

Nah.....

I didn’t get to know Marcinho. He sent me a message that if we decided to make the video with Michael [in the Santa Marta favela], we could lay $1 million on the street, and our film equipment, and no one would touch it,” Lee said.

Lee said Marcinho assured him, “With Michael Jackson here, this will be the safest place in the world.”
