He didn't say he hated it at all. He even ends the clip saying he has no regrets. He just doesn't like when people, specifically black people in power, only see him as Braxton and don't give him a shot to excel at other roles.
Yeah, if this is keeping him from actually getting roles, that's a problem and he has every right to be upset about it. It's one thing if he was getting Braxton-type roles and didn't want them, but if casting directors just see him as Braxton and don't hire him for anything, then he doesn't work.
Jaleel White dealt with it, Dustin Diamond dealt with it. Several other actors and actresses dealt with it. Being typecast is like a punishment for an actor. They're getting penalized for being way too good at one role, which should show they can act, but the only reason they're not given a chance is because they excelled at a role. It's a catch-22.
Imagine other famous actors dealing with this. If Bryan Cranston got typecast, you don't get Breaking Bad.
