"If the consistency was there 100 percent, then I'd be cool with whatever it is," Gronkowski said. "One week, we're told we can play, it really isn't going to be called, they can hold and you can slap off their hands. Then the next week, if you touch the guy, it's a PI. I just wish I knew the consistency, so I can base my game off and practice and be prepared for the game and know the rules going in from week to week."

The Steelers are now the favorites to win the Super Bowl, according to Westgate SuperBook at 9-2 odds. The Patriots are next at 5-1 odds. New England had been the heavy favorites since the offseason.

The Patriots opened the year at 3-1 odds to win the Super Bowl, which perhaps was giving them too much credit.

"From day one, I thought 3-1 was way off,"
Nick Bogdanovich, director of trading for William Hill U.S., said. "It's just too early in the year; you don't know what you got. New personnel, 40-year-old quarterback, long season -- I didn't think anyone should be better than 5- or 6-1, but they bet them like they deserve to be there."

That bend, don't break defense :beli:

As for measuring Brady's first four starts to other years of his career, his 2017 body of work stacks up favorably. Best ever? That might be a stretch, but it's easily in the top five, and maybe higher.

Brady enters Thursday's road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers having completed 103 of 155 passes for 1,399 yards, with 10 touchdowns and no interceptions. His passer rating is 116.6

Brady's current four-game stretch, which included him throwing three touchdowns in the first quarter (vs. the Saints in Week 2) for the first time in his career and leading his 52nd career comeback from a fourth-quarter deficit or tie the following week against the Texans, is statistically rivaled only by what unfolded in 2007, 2015 and 2016.

Gronk's available for tonight.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday morning that Gronk is expected to play, per a source informed of the situation. Rapoport added the tight end figures to be limited some by the injury.

Gronkowski was limited in practice on Wednesday.

The Patriots enter Thursday night’s game at Tampa Bay at 2-2 and lucky not to be 1-3, with the worst-performing defense in the NFL. A month ago, they were the overwhelming favorite to win the Super Bowl and a popular choice go 16-0. Now, they are a game behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.

The last time the Patriots were under .500 at least five games into the season was Week 8 of the 2002 season, the year after Tom Brady and Belichick won their first Super Bowl. It’s far from a lock they’ll avoid that fate. They have allowed opposing quarterbacks to put up obscene stats so far, and Jameis Winston has the weapons to make them pay.

Belichick will have little choice but to simplify his defense. The Patriots’ poor start owes in large part to communication breakdowns in their secondary. A short week is a hard time to fix those kinds of errors. If the Patriots do scale back what they do in the back end, how will that affect how Belichick can mix up looks against Winston?
