The claim that "he didn't spend any of his own money" is a lie. I don't know how much he's given total so far, but tax records from 2009 have him giving $2 million to the foundation in that year alone.
The miserable haters on here claiming that it's not his own money are just assuming that from one uninformed article that said, "It's not clear whether he spent any of his own money." Five minutes of internet research could have made it clear, dumbfukk journalist.
p.s. - Kanye, Oprah, Seal, and a few other black celebs are also helping with the foundation.
Looks like Pitt and Jolie give as much as $8 million/year of their own money to charity. Fo sho it could be more, and they could do more than they're already doing, but I ain't going to bytch about the ones doing more than most everybody else.

If he didn't give any money, you'd say "devil feigned good, no surprise there".
If he did give money, you'd say, "Who fukking cares, tax writeoff."

He's the one soliciting the other donations and loans to make it happen.
He's the one getting renowned designers to build impressive homes that are energy-efficient and chemical-safe for kids rather than the cheapest shyt they could get.
He's the one suing the company that provided defective materials and making sure that shyt gets replaced with lasting stuff.

And it's not a project "the government funded", he did apply for some federal loans available for Katrina relief work, but he also put millions of his own money into it and threw events that raised millions more.
Everything I've read makes it look like it was his project from beginning to end. But then again, I actually did a bit of research before commenting, rather than just vomiting my own prejudice uninformed onto the screen.
