I wear dunks from 2002,2003,2004 all the time. my oldest pair in rotation (mind you, this means like 2/3 wears a year) are these from 2002

of the pairs from that era only yellowing midsole for some is an issue. I have this pair from 2003 that looks just like these coming out soon

But they're naturally yellow :heh:

Most of that shyt is just a matter of wearing the shoes, as far as soles crumbling and shyt like that. Like you said stored in an attic type shyt.

I looked at my collection a few weeks ago. I had a house fire in 16 and the smoke fukked a few pairs.

These shyts was flaking though, shyts ain't even all that old. The color changing material was all in the box.

And the ms. pac man sb dunks, wore them once. The soles looked ashy, had to scrub hard to get them black. Idk wtf that is, plenty black soled shoes and never seen that.

A few barely worn Jordans where the paint is cracking or sole yellowed.

its so weird how some shoes age and others don't. or worse, how bad construction shows over time...the JORDUNK dunks from the early/mid 00s were fukkin GARBAGE quality when i break em out

Or, when you wear an old pair and the quality is SURPRISING

i wore these this weekend for the first time in a few years

shyt was maybe the best quality shoe i OWN. i was taken aback how sturdy it was compared to even other sbs of the era. Its much better than even Send Helps or the BTTYS dunks

thats some stored in the attic shyt....keeping shoes in box, in attics and storage units and garage's will rot out midsoles for sure.

i cannot keep pairs deadstock. i have one pair and i only bought them because I love the store: Adidas Forum 25th anniversary colab with PUFFER RED's out of Michigan

I see breh. That’s bc those are Dunks. Dunks, Jordan 1s, and AF1s don’t fall apart like that due to the midsole being rubber. When you start messing with stuff like 3s and 4s and other kicks with polyurethane, it doesn’t matter how much you wear or flex it. Joints will eventually crumble.

AH, you're certainly right. my entire collection is those midsoles: dunks, Blazers, AJ1s, Terminators [and running shoes, whole different convo]

Air Max 95 and 97 polyurethane is notorious for breaking down. These shoes have limited shelf life.

Good thing is that more advances are being made. Adidas claims that their thermal plastic polyurethane used in stuff like adidas boost doesn’t have that problem and you can wear or keep those joints for over 20 yrs
