Weather your fan or or aint... decided to throw on some fiyah red laces (honestly, i was a wee bit skeptical aboot it... but given my personality and how flamboyantly rambunctious it is... i said fukk it in the ass!)
Wore them to a gym last night and irregardless if they were good looks, negative stares... the common denomination was that it was something unique.
With the responses i got at the Ethiopian Fitness (all my homies clown on it due to its prevalence in East African attendance-ship --- but I fukkin love it... perhaps i'm biased as a woman i'm dating now is of Somali descent).
I do know how i feel about them and I'm jamming my toes in these mofos and foot-to-sneaker fornicating with these puppies during my trip to San Antonio at the end of the month.
The contrast really adds to the flavor (like the wave runners, the stock laces have ZERO to do with sneaker... there's essentially nil volt colorage on the entire sneaker ----- so a vigga took it upon hisself to apply that concept to these).
One thing I wanted to notate is that Adidas truly peruses the online sneaker forums. The vast majority of 700 owners expressed angst regarding the prominent heel slippage. That detail/manufacturing/design flaw has been remedied with the infusion of wide elastic bands underneath the tongue for containment (a la Jordan 4's).
The overall construction on the Mauves essentially seem tighter and gooder crafted than it's OG predecessor.
Half sizing up on the Wave Runners, since i didn't have the luxury of trying in stores... proved to be too long, so i supplemented them with the Dr Scholl's work insoles.
On the Mauves... due to the elastic band, actually fit better at half up... but because i'm OCD, i also laced these poodles with the same insoles and these are vacay ready.
Yes, 300 dollars plus is a hefty price tag... but at retail and given my tennis shoe fixations... it's not so bad.
What truly gives you the run for your money is that even after extensive duration of wearness... they still look DS. It's prolific game these are.
Don't care about the hype factor as yes, Yeezy coolness isn't what it was a few years ago... but after owning these little fukks... man, I'm going to say they are top 3 release for me this year.
Possibly... my favorite shoe of 2018.
Do me.
