At the top.
Also wanted to ask you guys

Do you guys think Nike and other shoe co's have 'plants' on forums and instagram?
A lot of early releases get into popular/prominent figurse hands and they snap some interesting pics which tend to garner a lot of hype (see kalik's uptown2k pic of the corks)

Definitely.

Hype is manufactured no question about it to me. Corks are a prime example. I remember talking to people in the Bred 11 line about them and nobody said they wanted them at most people said "they aight".

that was late december and original RD was new years.....RD gets pushed back and hype goes off the charts. I swear the buzz for them came outta no where.

Edit: I forgot about Nikes Press release after the RD got pushed back :snoop: thats what did it.

I think Nike measures hype more so than they try to create it.

Nike may send a sample pair or image or 'leak' to a sneaker news site and then see what the sneaker community is saying about them.

Nike wouldn't encourage or instruct the site to ramp up the hype.

Ex. After the Concords in 2011, everyone was callin for the Breds to come out next but it was scheduled that the Columbias were the 2012 release. JB heard the people and changed the release to the Breds.

When the last time you seen a Nike commercial.... for Jordans or rare shoes. They give em to people to wear and generate hype social media

It's actually a genius way of marketing. Hell they save money on tv spots and just let the hype build by word of mouth and social media more so than anything else. I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

As soon as you slap that 'Quickstrike', 'Elite', 'Limited' on ANY Nike release these days, the hype is there.

In that sense, its manufactured by Nike, but Nike isn't creating hype on internet with intent, the sneakerheads do that job for them.

shyt did Ewings or Reebok classics.. do TV spots... nah. They (Nike/Reebok) might do a youtube, but that cant cost what a TV spot does. Just production.

They also use us Old heads 80's and 90s era dudes to promote to youngins. No way certain shoes, should have online followings... but when they drop. Kids lined up.
