you know what, I understand loyalty and all that shyt but, from a business standpoint, why pay them.

you know how many talented, up and coming and unknown broadcasters there are out there right now. ESPN is literally a "dream job" breh. They really don't have to pay millions to keep these on air guys, even if they been there for 20-30 yrs. i'm sure if espn approached someone off the coli with 25K/YR to write up column for the nba or nfl, they would do it, maybe even for less or free.

Espn is not hurting with all these old heads leaving.
what up and coming broadcaster is as good, or as versatile as mike tirico? theres a reason he was in that lofty perch

Yo, what is going on over at ESPN for real? They spent way too much money on these sports packages (College football, NBA, NFL) and cant keep the announcers that brought them to the dance.

Disney told them to cut $100M in budget last year.. they overpaid on live content, and the $ value for cable subscriptions is at all time low

They'll stay on top but there's no doubt they are slipping. They've lost their way. They used to put out content like this:

i agree but i do enjoy the 30's for 30's they put out.

Let's be real, this is a different generation of viewers, they want the fukkery and the tedious high school bullshyt (tebow, lebron, brady, manziel)

sure, but these guys were not guys espn is happy about losing. they are big gets for other networks, where they will be privy to even loftier announcing gigs. they left because of their talent for bigger and better spots, not because espn thinks they are replaceable and let them go

ESPN isn't going anywhere breh. :heh:

They finally figured out that a lot of these overpaid broadcasters are interchangeable.

They far overpaid for the college football playoff & the NBA, and they can't raise rates enough to matchup with that, and the last few years they lost subscribers for the first time. That's leading to this. A lot of off camera people got laid off

thing is, I don't know exactly ESPN's branding other than try to absorb sports personalities who have their own following (Cowherd, Rome, Bomani), make them palatable to the masses, then manage them to the point where they want out so that they can go back to having their own voice and flavor.

It's just an endless cycle, really.

ESPN is just leaning up, i'm sure they have new talent...they don't believe in paying personalities too much once they reach a certain level given that the ESPN name speaks for itself, for instance people will take paycuts to work for google
