i work at a big 4 accounting firm.

if anything i'd say i'm given lots of autonomy/respect. maybe even too much :whew:. Can be overwhelming cause i'm so young and still learning a lot of shyt

Not saying in every case, but too often to discount. My boss and is a senior manager, probably the second highest ranking black male in a fortune 500 company with over 10,000 employees, which is sad onto itself. Over a 10 year period he's essentially been acting director, he manages over 100 million dollar spend every year. Over the years he's watched white boy after white boy fill the director position immediately above his role, only to suggest the same shyt he has been saying for years.

And it's not even underhanded like these white boys are stealing his ideas, it's basically like well John has been here for ten years saying the same thing I'm saying now, why aren't you listening to him. Frustrated, he's watched a multitude of directors leave and he not get promoted. He's finally done with the organization.

It's subtle but not so subtle when you know what to look for. All organizations are not equally progressive.

The concept of a glass ceiling is more in-line with what a lot of us experience in corporate America as opposed to being treated like children.

As far as the bolded, that's too long to stay at the same workplace even if they are treating you properly. If they aren't treating you properly you need to bounce. Every time you leave a workplace you will increase your value and get a pay increase and you should plan on doing it every 2-3 years if possible.

He's in his late forties with two college age kids, while that may be the paradigm for millenials, it's not so easy when you have roots.

Glass ceiling is one thing, disregarding ideas because of the source is another. That's treating someone like a child. That's almost textbook dude.

I'm not even one to call everything racist, but if you're ignoring someone who says one thing, and listening to someone else who says the same exact damn thing...riddle me this...what is that?

Fair enough. He's still gotta make an exit plan though if he's being mistreated.

I usually rock with Boyce, but I think he's off on this. Or maybe it's just my company. I'm treated like I may murder everyone in there. Plus I'm the most knowledgeable. Referred to as the best.

I think it's how you carry yourself on a job. In some industries black guys do have a tendency to be mush mouth and coy around cacsm

I use to like Boyce but he is the nerd that wants to be down with the cool kids.
