IBO strawweight champion Hekkie Budler will fight Hugo Verchelli from Argentina on November 9.

The South African could be in line to challenge for the WBA title if he wins the fight at Emperors Palace, near Johannesburg.

IBO super-middleweight champion Tommy Oosthuizen will be in action in one of the other fights on the bill, defending his belt against Ezequiel Maderna, also from Argentina.

Promoter Rodney Berman said on Monday the winner of the bout between Budler and Verchelli may get an opportunity to challenge Japan's Ryo Miyazaki for the WBA belt.

The 24-year-old Verchelli is rated ninth by the IBF, tenth by the WBC and eleventh by the WBA. Eight of his 12 professional fights have been against three of his countrymen.

His only defeat was against Elias David Coronet, whom he has beaten three times. He has also beaten both Fabian Hernan Claro and Fernando David Alaniz twice.

His only victory against one of the top 50 strawweights on the IBO’s rankings list was against another Argentinian, Daniel Mendoza.

Budler's trainer, Colin Nathan, said on Monday Verchelli was highly rated in Argentina and should not be underrated. "You don't get recognition from the IBF, the WBC and the WBA for no good reason.

"We are preparing for a dangerous opponent. We are taking no chances. We don’t want to slip up before we get a chance to fight for the WBA crown."

Unlike Budler, who is now widely recognised as one of the top strawweights in the world, Oosthuizen has to repait his reputation when he defends his title against Maderna.

"Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen drew in his most recent fight, against Mexican-American Brandon Gonzales. "Everybody is entitled to have a bad fight and the fans will see a different Oosthuizen gainst Maderna," trainer Harold Volbrecht said.

Looks like Rigondeaux will get back on the schedule before the end of the year. From ESPN:
The date will be either Dec. 7 or Dec. 14, Arum said.

"We're working on a good fight," Arum said, declining to name the prospective opponent. However, Arum did say it would not be Chris Avalos, a name floated recently as a possible Rigondeaux opponent but understandably declined by HBO.

Arum hopes to line up a fight for junior welterweight titlist Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-0, 9 KOs), a Russian southpaw, in the co-feature.

-Nicholas Walters returns after nearly a year off, with Top Rank, on the undercard of the HBO triple header on 11/9. No opponent yet, it'll be on Top Rank's website, not on HBO.

-Daiki Kameda vs. Liborio Solis is signed for 12/3, this will be an unification bout

Kameda also said he's moving up........know what that means?

All three brothers in the same weight class, I guess they're trying to "Klitschko" Bantamweight, only thing is their fellow countryman Shinsuke Yamanaka (who's fighting Alberto Guevara 11/10), Anselmo Moreno (electing to wait out Koki's voluntary before they face off) and Jamie McDonnell (good luck getting a Euro in Japan) stand in the way

Sources close to the Willie Nelson camp are confirming that a fight between Matthew Macklin and Willie Nelson is close for a possible HBO date in late November or early December.

Macklin had been in talks with Gabriel Rosado for a possible middleweight clash but that fell through after Rosado took a fight with WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin on Showtime on October 26th in Atlantic City.

Macklin is coming off a 3rd round knockout loss to Gennady Golovkin this past June, where he was dominated by GGG. Because Macklin took that fight when no one else would, he was guaranteed a return date on HBO and all fingers coming from the Nelson camp is that his next opponent will be Willie Nelson.

Nelson was on the same card that night when he faced tough Argentine Luciano Cuello. Nelson was not as impressive as he was against Michael Medina but he did get the victory. Nelson is fighting this weekend in a stay busy this week against Dante Moore. Should he win, the fight with Macklin will be contested at 160 lbs. even though Nelson campaigns at 154 lbs. Nelson is tall for 154 so a move up to 160 might not be much of a transition. Since both men are promoted by Lou DiBella, it seems like an easy fight to make.
