:pachaha: quick reading breh..catch rep..but my point still stands...you cant dismiss toney and mayorga regardless of what they are now..hell james toney as a boxer and former champion is more notable than holly holm was or will ever be...going through that thread there were a lot of nikkas who had no idea who holm was much less that she used box pro..i myself dont see it as a win for boxing overall and boxing is my favorite sport....it was nice watching it executed at the level it was..all it is was rousey getting a weakness exploited in her game...the majority of misguided nikkas that posted about this fight think its a win for boxing because she talked shyt to floyd mayweather..he's the only boxer that has been thrown around in these examples lol..its a win for boxing if women's pro boxing gets more air time because of this fight..not because a woman boxer leaves pro to do MMA..my opinion

I know it's your opinion, but I just feel like if Deontay Wilder/Anthony Joshua/Bryant Jennings wouldn't get props for beating a "Former Champion" like James Toney because he's washed up, why would I give credit to a MMA Fighter for doing it?:yeshrug:

Toney & Mayorga were both far over the hill Boxers and held no weight in Boxing at the time of their MMA losses...so why give props to that? If Kovalev faces off with Rampage Jackson in a Boxing ring, and KOd him, would we really give Kovalev props? No, because Rampage is already done as a good MMA fighter. So why would I do the same for MMA fighters beating Boxers who are way past their expiration dates in their best sport already:manny:

This was definitely a win for Boxing imo, the same way it would be for MMA if Anthony Pettis was able to beat Canelo Alvarez in a Boxing match.

The youtube vid right there is funny...he's very happy that Holms won and kind was slick with the white media praise and seeing if she would get adopted by the white media but didn't BASH her because she did everything right..she's humble, always gives props to her trainers/husband/father, and refused to kick Ronda while she was down in this defeat. So he didn't go overboard...

Glad someone understands. :salute:

watch this preview of the fight. holly pretty much dominated ronda with all the basics she learned in boxing. dude went in depth to why holly's boxing ability could be the end of ron derousey. he was right on everything.

And people don't understand how complicated and difficult to execute this is... Especially in the heat of a fight.

This is something Ronda isn't going to learn in just a couple months... Maybe even a couple years. How to think like that on your feet and stick with a game plan that basically requires an understanding of angles and inches.

Using this logic, when:

Jones, Weidman, Cormier, etc. win, wrestling > MMA

Werdum, Jacare, etc. win, BJJ > MMA

Machida wins, Karate > MMA

Pettis wins, Tae Kwon Do > MMA

A lot of people do act as if a person with a wrestling base winning is proof that wrestling reigns supreme no matter how they actually win. I feel you though, that's true.

From what I've seen everyone always gives props on whatever is used to win.

Why do the rules change when it's boxing that was used:martin:

This girl was the "most dominant, greatest blah blah blah" and just got easy worked using BASIC boxing technique. :dame:

Had she got submitted or whatever her bjj would have gotten props. :manny:

Boxing is an excellent base for MMA. It's been proven in the past and was proven once again on Saturday. I don't see how anyone can deny that.

I haven't seen an MMA poster on this board deny boxing it's props. Yeah, there are some dumb insecure MMA fans out there who feel the need to bash/discredit boxing (for the most part, they are in the minority). But there's also a good number who gave boxing it's props when Holly won.

It happens all the time even I do with with my USA Wrestling :blessed: and the bjj brehs do it as well.

But since it was boxing that mostly got this W it never happens and it's not boxing's W because generic mma cacs have talked so much shyt about boxing they don't want to admit it gave em an L. :russell:

Like I said in the other thread. The vast majority of avid/educated MMA fans are recognize and respect boxing as a legitimate base for MMA.

Well that's fine, you said it doesn't happen though and we both know that isn't the case.

Especially when boxing and wrestling share some similarities in regards to footwork(always be on the ball of your feet, never cross) gauging of distance and usage of angles. Yet the generic mma cacs are all :blessed: in regards to wrestling as a base n shyt on boxing.

Most people who know what they're talking about don't shyt on boxing.

That's what I thought you were implying when you posted

Because it does happen.

That's not what I meant. I meant it as 'give me examples'.

I said that it does happen. But you're acting like this is some common occurrence. When in reality, it isn't. Amongst educated MMA circles, boxing (along with BJJ, wrestling, etc.) is given it's due props all the time.
