Welcome to the 1st edition of The Ring's Fantasy Fight Tournament. The objective is simple: pick the fighter who you feel would win at their best in the hypothetical matchup. Winner moves on to the next round.

Rules/Guidelines
- To place your vote, simply type in the name of the person you're voting for.
- An explanation would be great, but it's not a requirement.
- If you do choose to give an explanation, make sure it's clear and concise. If I have to read your post and have a hard time guessing you're choosing, your vote will not count
- You cannot change your mind. Once you place your vote, it's final
- Voting will be open for 48 hours (2 days)
- If a fighter has a 12+ vote lead (with a minimum of 20 votes) after 24 hours, a mercy rule will be enforced
- If 48 hours pass and the vote is tied, there will be an extended 24 hour overtime period
- If it is still tied after that 24 hour period, we will go into sudden death, and the next vote will win

Let the tournament begin...

Gotta go with Johnson on this one.

I liked Tua, but he always seemed to fall short when stepping up in competition. His power could make things interesting, but Johnson has the advantages in hand speed, footwork, and defense to cruise to a rather wide decision

Same here. Tua always had the power and when he was on, the fight wasn't going pass 5 rounds. But I remember the Rahman fight and fights after that and his stamina was really bad.

G-Town's finest would be sure to take advantage of that.

Tua got pigmentation so Black Jack would be a little easier on him. :heh:

Jack Johnson

Tua's my dude, but Johnsons defensive style would no doubt give tua problems.Tua would be trying to get in close but Jack would use his jab and footwork to avoid that, plus lil quick counters from Johnson would frustrate Tua to the point he would start throwing bombs, gassin himself...Then Johnson would really turn it on and just batter tua throughout the rounds....Tua's a G so he would still be trying to land a bomb no matter how tired or how much punishment he is taking....The ref stops early in the 12th,with Tua looking on like:dahell:"the fukk you stop it for!?" while gassed:pachaha:

jack johnson took the heavyweight championship from tommy burns who was 5 foot 7 and weighed in at 168 pounds and was reigning champ already going into his 12th defense. 12 defenses. this was the man, the cream of the crop in that era. he was the same size as vinny pazienza.

anybody that thinks david tua would lose this fight is delusional. jack johnson went 14 rounds with tommy burns. david tua would have flattened this super middleweight in seconds. david tua knocks jack johnson out early

Now this would have been a fight!
Gotta go with Jack just because the homie Tua never seemed able to rise to the occasion in big time fights. But damn it would be a war.

Well, Tua aint fighting 5'7/168 Tommy Burns..he's fighting Johnson who was 6' and whose weight was reportedly between 190-215.

I get what you're saying...but lets not leave out the fact that Johnson was able to outbox and stop Jim Jeffries who was about the same weight as prime Tua, but was taller and had a longer reach...was also considered a "KO artist" as well...of course he wasn't KO'ing opponents the size of Tua's opponents...Tua was probably stronger than Jefferies and most definitely hit harder. But i gotta go with Jack Johnson by decision. I think he stunts Tua's offense with his clinching and wins rds with his jab...if Rahman could outbox Tua i don't see why Johnson wouldn't be able to.

But i don't blame anybody for picking Tua here, believing his strength & power is something that Johnson has never encountered...which is a fact.

he never encountered that kind of strength and power.... he also never encountered a fighter who wasnt fighting out of a stance with both hands down at their waist stood straight up like a stick and pulled straight back from punches. that era... in general... was inferior to the era that tua fought in. none of those fighters could compete today. throwing jim jeffries name out there means as much as throwing out a random white players stats from the nba in the 40's. its supposed to be who you think would win head 2 head. its not who had more legacy and more historical impact. jack johnson coming across the ring to meet tua... with those hands down his chin all the way in the air standing straight up like he did... gets tossed to the bushes
