I’m visiting jamaica right now. I’m hearing way more afrobeats than I thought I would. :francis:
It's all over the Caribbean...Afrobeats and Nollywood rule. It's Nigeria's turn to shine.

Dancehall needs more tunes like this:

The tune should’ve been bigger - I guess it didn’t get a major push.

It would be hard for me to distinguish between this and the modern iteration of Afrobeats.

Big up the war lord :wow:

I disagree with many in this thread that says it's the vulgarity of the music. Like have you heard ANY female rapper in the last couple of years?

I think it's the fact that dancehall has become trap music light. The riddims aren't riddims and we don't see multiple artists on one riddim so you can have a true juggling session.

Once upon a time you could listen to the bassline alone and identify any dancehall song... now most of it sounds like hip hop tbh.

get him a youngboy feature & boom

you have a island full of youths that fit in that lane perfectly

it just hasn't been linked yet

a artist like skillibeng is somewhat showing what i am talking about

as a yardie artist making his way through collaboration

the thing is it's a love hate relationship because as much as nikkas love the gunman shyte they want to be cozy with the safe pop accepted people

they see how mainstream is comfortable with afrobeats & they want that

but they aren't seen as safe like afrobeats

He definitely spoke wisely there.

Any educated and cultured Black person should have no problem saying that, because our musical expressions in the Black Diaspora are clearly cultural continuations from Africa.
The rhythms and melodies in the Diaspora blend so well :ohlawd:

That Nigerian beat is heavy I Cuban music, especially their reggaeton.

he is & i get what he's saying

what i am saying is the most streamed artist fit in a lane that celebrate all the fukkery so really that is no obstacle to success

accept that the clean mainstream pop lane you see accepting afrobeats is not your fit

Afrobeats is a fad. Enjoyed it one summer now it makes me sick.

Dancehall needs to go back to the 90s. Vybz Fartel and Frauvado helped run it into the ground.
I feel like it fell off after Vybz and Movado. Vybz is one of the most versatile artist of all time and has songs that can play all day.

I agree though Afro beats getting annoying
