I agree with some and disagree with some.

Dancehall fell off on the international stage, I really should say on the mainstream stage, because the topics became much less relatable. He was right about that. Sheer gunman talk. There are a lot of really good dancehall still but it’s just not hitting the mainstream like that

I grew up on dancehall in the 90's, DJ'd many parties back in the day. Now, can barely listen to dancehall. Every song has hardcore profanities and just pure non-sense "Gyal you have a phaat p*ssy and me gwon fuk 'ya" like wtf is that. And like Bounty said, no lyrics either but thats most genres nowadays

Great build from The General. Interesting he doesn’t have a seizure trying to explain that all music is from Africa.

The vulgarity in modern Dancehall is almost some Clockwork orange shyt..I remember that one joint that literally begins with “I have a penis for your vagina hoooole” being a defining song of the 10s

Like what type of shyt :wtf:

it basically became like drill music, just straight violent talk or talking about sex. Vybz kartel rotting in jail and every song is still the same

As well Afrobeats is huge and the nigerian community is huge. Afrobeats and ampiano can be popular literally in only their communities and would still be large. Only like 3 million jamaican
