Lincoln probably also would've preferred negotiation to mitigate deaths during the US Civil War...

There was no negotiating. Lincoln winning the presidency was why the war was inevitable. That was the line in the sand for the South. The Republican Party, which Lincoln was the nominee for, was formed by abolitionists whose stated goal was to stop the expansion of slavery.

If he were a modern politician he'd have told the southerners that they can keep the slaves just don't expand.

I want every child to look at our politicians and realize "if I'm smarter than these morons at 10 years old. What will happen if I actually take my studies seriously? Anything is possible :wow:"
