F-word was still said openly in the 80s and early 90s fa sho. Watch Eddie's stand up and he used it a LOT.

Seems like late 90s or early 00s, it became taboo as more LGBTQ folks started pushing back. Shyt will get you canceled nowadays. Better off calling someone a muthaphukka or bytch.
