Coming from the midwest but I'm from the south.
Welcome to Mass
Black folks are all over the Bean. Concentrated in Roxbury, Mattapan & Dorchester. But they break down into neighborhoods like Field's Corner, Uphams Corner, Grove Hall, Dudley, etc. Many Cape Verdians, Haitians, Jamaicans, Trinis, Ethiopians, Somalis & more. Boston has alot to offer on many levels. As do the surrounding areas. Hope his helps.

I've heard a lot about the segregation between the races in Boston, but do the Black ethnic groups intermingle or does everyone kind of stick to their own?
If youre going to grad school, you'll be insulated from a lot of that to be honest. University atmospheres are liberal and progressive.
There is intermingling and alot of it. One of the main causes is the housing prices and rents. The ones who are not scared of traditionally black neighborhoods will go there to live. One of favorite parts of Boston is Fort Hill which you would not find a white in sight back in the day. Now they jogging all over the streets with their dogs. Dont get me wrong places in south boston i would not venture because of the lack of diversity. On the whole Boston is pretty open minded on the surface at least.

Yep...I've decided to leave my car at my mom's house. I'm both sad and excited about having to rely on public transportation from now on.
Do you go to any lounges and etc or are you more of a bar guy?
you'll get used it to it..i live 35 mins outside boston ...driving in downtown boston is tedious and annoying..parking
