I think every hip hop head at the time who were at least 18 years old in 1999 knew who 50 cent was. How to Row put him on the map and it was featured on one of the biggest hip hop soundtracks of the year in In Too Deep. Plus he was on Onxy's Shut em Down album. He wasn't some unknown rapper that just popped up out of nowhere in 2003. He had everyone from Wutang, Jay Z, Big Pun, Ja Rule(for obvious reasons), and Sticky Fingaz dissing him. he was known. I have 2 copies the Power of the Dollar promo vinyl. After he was shot and recovering, the album was shelved.

Yup.. I used to buy bootleg CDs on Canal Street (big up to my African bootlegger; he got everything early, lol ), and he was killing the mixtape scene...

Unless you were there, people would never truly understand how big 50 Cent was at the street level in New York.

It is crazy to watch him transition to that to being an internet influencer :russ: and movie mogul

He literally created trolling to create a buzz. He was known before then but those were the days where you had to be put on to be known like that. You couldnt just stream or go to his IG. Pretty sure everybody knew who he was once Em signed him/shouted him out though.
