Nostalgia aside, this is one of Eddie's most forgettable movies. Even Harlem Knights was funnier. Bowfinger was the last great Eddie Murphy movie. His performance was sublime across the board in that, and the writing was clever and witty in equal measures. The best thing about Boomerang was seeing all those familiar black actors together in the same movie, but much like Meteor Man, which has arguably the best black cast out of any movie from the 90's, the script just doesn't measure up to all that talent on screen.

I like Meteor Man, it's better than Boomerang because it has a better cast, funnier scenes, and it's one of the only black superhero movies in existence. I bet you can't name one thing that's unique about Boomerang. At least Bowfinger had some originality.

I'll have to revisit Boomerang one of these days to see if my opinion changes. It just didn't live up to my expectations the first time. I expected a funnier movie with that cast.

Classic as movie. They don't make em like that anymore. Now all the black romantic comedies are geared towards the stereotypical convincing overly dramatic hopelessly romantic smart independent stuck up baby momma looking for love in all the wrong places. Waiting for a knight and shining armor to come all of her insecurities away. And most black movies and shows always gotta have a effeminate emasculated black man that has no power. And if he does he's the bad guy that dies at the end or loses the girl. Just like one of the posters said boomerang had all black everything. Now we're demoted to the black slightly edgier side kick with swag. Or the black funny dude ridin on that c00n train.
