I can respect all this but wasn’t the allure of him getting drafted here was that he was going to be on a coaching staff that was going to prioritize player development? He hasn’t even been inconsistent lately he’s just been bad. I mean he’s halfway through his second season and the only real positive we’ve seen consistently is that he’s a plus defender but you don’t draft a player in the lottery solely for that purpose.

The other thing we gotta stop doing is making excuses for him. Like I didn’t know about the parents moving thing but honestly breh fukk that. You an NBA player, figure that shyt out. I hate to sound harsh but I have no confidence in him when he’s on the court right now. It’s not even about the lack of shot making, it’s the lack of feel, off ball movement, making the right basketball play, he just doesn’t have that. IDK if you learn that like you learn how to make a shot.

BTW, I’m ready for Huerter to :camby: breh is afraid of contact and indecisive with the ball in his hand :snoop:

Still not convinced John Collins deserves a max either
He literally had the worst rookie 1st half in NBA history and was the most improved rookie from JAN-MAR of last year. Improved his WAR in that period more than any rookie in the NBA last year. So to say what the allure was what you stated, that was true and it seemed to be the case. The thing is, we had this really fukked up pandemic that's still going on that killed millions of people and the NBA created rules where the players, coaches, have to be virtual. Cam had no access to a court and he lost all of the shyt Melvin Hunt, VC, and the staff worked on with Reddish. COVID hurt his development. That's a fact, we clearly see that. You were just like most here who felt Reddish finished the season last year much better than Hunter who couldn't guard Miss. Daisy by the end of last year. Am I wrong?

It's not excuses breh, excuses is saying stupid shyt like Matt Ryan isn't seen as elite because he doesn't have the coaching or the OL. It's basically making excuses about shyt he can't control. We know what Cam needs to fix and work on. We also know he's just a 22 year old who's raw and that's something we see, we don't need to say that's a fukking excuse!

That part about finding a way is true. Trae would travel the fukking world to find somewhere to get work in and hoop regardless of the pandemic. Some guys have the shyt in their DNA. shyt, Hunter was like, after the season ended, I gotta work and improve where I need to be. Cam clearly didn't do that. I see clear improvement defensively and with his energy level but shyt, everyone in the fukking NBA improves defensively in year 2. Even Trae. That's not a real accomplishment, to be honest. Cam do gotta find that shyt in him to want to be great and be elite. We know he wants to be great. He talks to nikkas and ask the right questions from people I've asked on the ground but yeah, it all comes down to work. He gotta put in the grind time every fukking day. Every fukking day.

it’s the lack of feel, off ball movement, making the right basketball play, he just doesn’t have that. IDK if you learn that like you learn how to make a shot.
nikka! This is my biggest issue. Off the ball movement is stale with Reddish. He moves a lot, fast, and maintains good stamina but if you watch him move, it's doing NOTHING. It's almost Bazemore like but at least Baze is elite in transition and cutting without the rock. This nikka rarely makes the best Basketball play. He predetermines like a young 2k player. One time tonight, Utah just tunneled him into Gobert. Instead of adjusting on the fly and passing it to a wide-open Hill, he took that shyt up and got blocked. Now, if he had good explosiveness like McGrady, I wouldn't mind him trying to yam on that nikka Gobert who was still rotating but Cam doesn't have that burst off the ground without space like Lonzo Ball.

Now, the next time they did the same play, he did pass it out but he actually had an angle to score that time and passed it up to pass it to Snell who did drain the three but it was contested and really wasn't the best Basketball play. Defensively, he better at making the right play. A lot better but he still has tendencies like when nikkas are driving on his hip, he has to hop in front of them and make them take a contested shot. Trae, JC, Goodwin do this.. Most decent wing defenders do this. Cam tends to let them drive and for a NBA player, that's the contact drill layup all day. They can make that shot. Cam has to use his agility and trust his instincts on that end. He's too much of a reactive player. He needs to be more of a blend of reactive and instinctive.

That's completely different. That takes time and a lot of training and game reps. Some guys just get it and have high composure like Doncic. Some have shyt composure like Ant-Man and Reddish but it's an area that generally improves with a lot of reps. LaVine used to have that issue really bad back in the day. Even Giannis.

We just need to cut his minutes. He's not ready for the run he's getting. We gotta be more patient. But patient doesn't mean throwing him out there to lose confidence.
Question is? Without Hunter, who is? Huerter. Naw! Hill? Hell naw. We have finally seen a good Tony Snell game tonight. As mad as it makes us, Cam is still a positive WAR player and a good defensive player for us. Obviously, we love Bogi but he's hurt.

Also, I remember coach saying the Hawks have only had like 2 or 3 practices all year long because of the congested schedule. That can't be good for player development, but at the same time, Trae and DeAndre found a way to get better.

I don't know if Dre needed the same thing. His issue was things that he needs a trainer for. Athleticism, quickness, and how to use your body when you can't get to your spots. That pretty much what he did and he built on what he had improved on over last season. I feel like Cam's things would need to be more dependent on our staff in Atlanta.

Trae is proof that if you want to get better, you gonna get better. Cam will go anywhere to figure out how to improve. Once he gets that 2nd deal, he will probably spend millions on his body. That nikka Cam was playing video games.

Yup...I’m not so sure Cam has that drive to be great, which is ironic because that was the knock on him coming out of college :francis:

And it's still a question. He wants to be great but you gotta have the drive. That, damn, I need to get better thought in your head that everyday you aren't working, someone else is and getting better. I had that shyt and I wanted it but I wasn't anywhere near talented enough to really do shyt at this sport while I had more talent in my pinky than most nikkas in Baseball.

Yeah right now he has ro get run cause injuries but when everyone is back (at the very least our wing players) I wouldn't be mad at his minutes being reduced. He's young enough where competing is still important. He needs to know what's at stake. Pros ain't college. If you aint improving, you aint playing

Cam Reddish is trash. MF can't shoot
When he's shooting like the worst shooting player in the league by a country mile, he won't be offensively productive especially when so much of his offensive impact is based on his 3pt shot. His defense is pretty damn good and he's still a positive player.
