Of course the ATL
I am not denying that. He was out of his element as the HC and struggled to adjust to his excellent rookie HC season considering expectations at the time.

The biggest issue with him was he was never a lead assistant or anything close to it. He was a player development coach and then finally moved up to becoming a defensive specialist or what they called coordinator. He wasn't on no one's radar for an interview much less coaching job till we hired him.

Within the industry, people seen this as the worst hire and a reach. After his rookie year, coaches felt LP could be a coaching superstar. Then he went to team USA and he blew them away. Most felt he had next. Part of the reason Trae gets it so negatively is coaches blamed Trae for this season till Nate took over.

I know us fans feel one way about it. Most of us really really dislike LP. Hell after the Boston game when Nate coached due to LP son being born, I was like, Nate needs to coach. He's getting shyt outta Cam that I haven't seen LP do in two years and Trae looks motivated. The Denver game solidified it. LP came back, back to the say BS, the Miami game was the last straw. I am not gonna hate on LP like that.

We wouldn't have any of these players if it wasn't for LP. Him and Travis works in unison. If LP didn't like them or want then even if Travis did, he removed them from the board.

Travis fell in love with JJJ as did Peterson, LP saw Luka and Trae and said they are much better for what he wants. He needed an ultimate playmaker and he felt in love with Trae the most. The scouts wanted JJJ. Thankfully Tony wanted Trae. Both loved Kevin.

Travis wanted Jarrett Culver. LP worked him out and said hell no but he worked out Hunter and LP not Travis told Hunter reps, we are taking you, close shop.

He saw Cam tape and was locked in as was Travis.

Both Travis and LP wanted Haliburton but Haliburton did not want to come to Atlanta. They also fell in love with Okongwu for the guys outside of the 3.

LP played a massive role in our hits. Let's stop shytting on breh

I personally don’t dislike him. I’ve given him credit for being out in the streets last summer for the protests and standing up for racial equality and justice. I salute him for that. He loves Atlanta so I salute him for that as well. But keeping it basketball he sucked. I think he’s a cerebral coach who does understand basketball, but he’s not a good coach. Take the qualifiers/excuses out of it (he wasn’t given a good roster, his guys were hurt when he was given a chance, etc). He alienated his team, he threw his star player (Trae) under the bus on a coaching conference call and never built a relationship with him. He was stubborn. A big part of being a coach is being flexible and building relationships with your team and he never did that. Hopefully he learns from this experience and gets another chance, but he was a significant detriment to the teams overall success. The performance of the team after he was fired is the biggest indictment of his job as a coach

Jury is still out on Cam at this point BTW

Well obviously the jury is still out on him. He had an WOAT 1st half rookie year with Jordan Poole and turned it around in the 2nd half and had an excellent finish. Hurt his Achilles in preseason and had a disappointing 2nd year considering expectations.

I always say there is a lot more to coaching than Xs and Os. He did a lot extremely well but he did a lot extremely poorly.

Being stubborn
His ability to communicate clearly but not communicate with an understanding of how these players feel was problematic.
Wanting the guys to play modern NBA Basketball even at their detriment ultimately ended LP.
We are playing at the slowest pace and look how good we are?

Fact is, we can't play fast. Trae plays like a rabbit with his head cut off playing fast. Sure, he can score either way but when he controls the tempo and his own pace, he's lethal.

LP deserves smoke but not as much as I seen our fanbase give him.

The shots need to be falling tonight.
John, Dre, Bogi, Gallo, Snell, and Kevin need to all be locked-in and ready because they will definitely get opportunities as the Knicks gonna try to blitz Trae from jump.

Also...an underrated aspect to tonight's game. OO HAS to give us something (rebounding, paint protection, and hustle) during the minutes he play. The Knicks started their bench run when OO got into the game the other night which is why Nate probably went away from him in the game.

Everyone beside Trae and Bogi (First Half) played like dog shyt. 12 - 44 from 3 smh. If Gallo can’t make open shots, he needs to sit. He can’t defend anyone or rebound and got the nerve to have a Mr T Mohawk like he bullying folks smdh .. the team let Trae Down tonight.

I’d replace Gallo with Nathan Knight .. I think he has way more upside beside 3 point shooting

Bad Nate McMillan showed up last night smh.

And Collins was just SMH.

Coach had one of his worst games. Allowed the third Q to go pretty much untamed. Didn’t ride Trae and Bogi long enough. Also gotta call out our front court for not showing up at all (Gallo, Capella, Collins). Hunter got tired at the end. That said it was 91 all late in the 4th, we just didn’t execute and we missed a bunch of wide open shots late

@I AM WARHOL Collins ain’t it. I been telling y’all brehs that for months especially not at a max or near max level contract. If Trae isn’t setting him up for a lob or he has a wide open shot he’s low key useless on offense. I’m not paying $90 million for that let alone $100 M’s

We need to let Collins go this off-season. One way or another. Mans is not it.
I've deadass forgotten he's been on the court :francis:

With Hunter back, breh is really our 5th starter. That would be a good problem if he was that type of player(hustle man, knockdown shooter, crazy defender, facilitator, etc) but he doesn't do "the little things" well enough to thrive in that role. It's like he's either 2nd option or bust, can't take over a game and isn't really effective being a true "roleplayer" neither :francis:

it's at a point now where idk if we should match a deal for him above 4/80 at this point, not because he's not worth it, but because I'm starting to feel he doesn't fit with the squad anymore

We’re literally not getting anything from our front court right now….

Allowing way too many second-chance opportunities to the Knicks. Clint where are you?????

Gallinari hasn’t even shown up SMH.

John “I’m a Max player“ Collins can’t play defense without fouling.

OO just ain’t ready.

Also…is Dre on minutes restriction still? Dude was coming on in the 3rd and Nate sat him until like 5 mins in the 4th. What the hell was up with that?
