Glad Alchemist made a post about this showing them love. And props to Boldy & chuck for getting him to mix the album too.

Also glad they took that scumbag elscamino off of the two tracks he was on. It would have been an instant delete for those two joints for me if he was kept on.

I don't remember who the other two feats were in the original leak. I think it was Maxo Kream & Ransom?

It sounds so much better with proper mixing & sequenced too. I genuinely like every song on here & think its a lot better with no features.

After the last two Boldy offerings this is a blessing even though i've had the unmixed version since it was being sold around for a good while before it leaked.

10/10 Solid album imo. lets see if the next joint with RBM is as good, going off the last couple with him i'm pretty hopeful. ive heard some of the songs off of it and its sounding nice.

Also looking forward to the V Don collab album too whenever that one drops.
Album is very cohesive and has a smooth feel throughout. High quality project compared to his previous 2 releases. Sounds nice and crisp so shoutout to Al. Probably will end up coping the vinyl.

Strong disagree.

Easily one of the most consistent artists in hip-hop today. Even with the frequency of his projects, he’s head and shoulders above his peers.
you think every album he's dropped in the last year (at least 7+) has been exceptional?

I did not say “exceptional.”

However: they’ve been all been great, and some have been fantastic.
I'm glad you think for yourself and like what you like. Boldy has been one of my favorite rappers for awhile now. That said, I'm not some blindly devoted fan. I can admit when some of them albums or EPs are not very good. I probably won't ever revisit Permanant Ink, Murder During Drug Traffic, Prisoner Of Circumstance and a few others. Mostly because of bad production...or production that doesn't fit Boldy...He releases too much bull shyt with the unknown producers with no care put into them. If you go in these threads or on twitter...you'll probably find that's the general consensus from other Boldy fans...and it reflects in the streaming numbers compared to his more praised work. My point in saying that wasn't to shyt on Boldy. It was to praise THIS work for returning to the standard we expect from him.

Boldy has carved a solid but weird fanbase in his career. Early on his fanbase was underground street heads and Cool Kids stans so off top he had to deal with conflicting bases. Then when he started working with Al he gained hip hop elitist fans who only think his work with Alchemist should be revered. Add on the Griselda heads and now you got a majority fan base who feels he drops too much when this is who Boldy has been since the beginning.

Let's be real, the last couple of albums he dropped before this have been throw away joints & duds. The shyt with random no name producers ain't it. no one wants to hear Boldy over generic samey beats. I like most of the albums he's been dropping, the last few have been terrible though imo. and its not Boldy's rhymes or delivery its the production. He's mostly consistent as fukk but every now and then he drops something lacklustre and the way he's putting out music that's to be expected.

I'll always check out anything he drops but there's a couple I'll never revisit. the richgains albums will never get a play from me again, that 7 joint ep has like one joint i like or two, and that last one before this will never get any play by me again

This is Solid but i heard it ages ago. its much better hearing it officially and properly mixed and mastered of course, Same with the Harry Fraud joint that leaked too, i kept about 7 songs off that i think. This is definitely one of his best recent ones so far though imo. there ain't a track i don't like there's maybe one or two weaker ones but not a bad song.

You get random gems on those Rich Gains and random producer collabs though

Imo the recent Rich Gaines album was really solid, I like that he gives Boldy a different sound compared to his other projects. He's not some rando, he and Boldy go way back to the trapper's alley era. But yeah a few of the other recent projects have been duds. That said Bo Jack's batting average is still terrific, so many quality projects and only a few I didn't like

I’m not a blindly devoted fan either, which is why the reflexive response to some of his other albums has confused me so much.

Murder During Drug Traffic, The Brictionary, Across the Tracks and Permanent Ink are all solid, or above average.

His storytelling isn’t lackluster, the production is great, and he’s clearly still curating things. I haven’t given Hidden in Plain Sight a full listen - so perhaps I’m missing something, but none of these are duds by any stretch of the imagination.

If we got this kind of consistency, both in production and in lyricism, from any other major artist - I don’t see why they wouldn’t get outsized praise. And I’ve seen mixed reviews from other fans - there are plenty who complain that nothing reaches the heights of Manger, which means they outright dismiss his other works, there are others who feel overwhelmed, and then there are those who have mixed feelings on each of the last few.

Boldy is unbelievable!

After he already dropped a fukking fire Album with Nicholas Craven and another dope album with Conductor early last year, he then drops a fire album in November, another album in December, 2 more albums in January & another fire ass album in February!!! Unprecedented run man. Ever since that near death car accident he had he is on a remarkable run because he’s not just dropping bullshyt like the mixtape era. All these albums are bonafide albums it’s insane. I completely disagree with anybody saying any of these releases are weak. Boldy is a listening man’s rapper. You can’t skim through his shyt. Just fukking listen!!!
