This was a very dope tape, phone bill ends it very nicely

I see people losing their minds to the Benny joint but the Staples, evidence and Gibbs cuts are better to me.

Thought it was interesting that Boldy and Benny recorded Scrape The Bowl the first day they met each other

Also thought it was interesting how Boldy and Alc are tapped in to the new wave of Detroit rappers like Kasher Quon and BabyTron

If that Boldy X Griselda project drops this year I’m giving 2020 to Boldy James

This album way more than M1CS must’ve had Al convince Boldy to try weirder stuff. M1CS is one of my favorite collab albums because it’s no straightforward. No drumless joints. The only kinda weird joint on there was You Know.

This one has a good blend. Mostly straight up joints but a few curve balls too. I was even surprised at the 808 joint. And Boldy throws some curve balls too with the flows.

My only issue on one listen is that Speed Demon Freestyle seems kinda out of place in the final little sequence on here or put on Boldface EP instead.

Agreed. I didn't expect this sound, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Alch def on some dark, Muggs shyt right now. Seems like Muggs' 2018/2019 run really inspired him, sonically. The eerie samples, moody guitars, etc.

Speed Demon the only track I'm not feeling but its not even bad. Seems like something Danny Brown would murder tho.

Agreed. Everyone knows I'm an Al fan but I also think he's been getting away with going through the motions for a couple years now. He still drops dope stuff but some of it is even unfinished. For whatever reason Boldy seems to have lit a spark. He was Tweeting heavy about working together and I think he may have even said he hasn't been that inspired since before P passed (RIP). This isn't my favorite Alc project but I agree with you that it's one of the more cohesive ones.

And that's funny about Speed Demon. I don't really dig it either. It's too average to be put so late into the album between 2 much doper tracks. And they actually did a music video for it
:hhh:

They should've put it on Boldface EP, which I wasn't a big fan of besides this joint here, which reminds me a little bit of that Ocean Prime jam.

I’m glad the album is getting more attention than their first one. This getting treated like a legit indie release on par with a Griselda or Roc Marci project.

I been wondering about this for a minute now, but are artists like Griselda, Roc, and Alc still having to deal with sample clearances when dropping albums on vinyl?

If you're selling it you always gotta clear it. Doesn't matter what format.

I understand that but look a somebody like Roc or WSG, I doubt they clearing all of the samples they use

I mean if dudes are just putting it music out there without clearance I’m all for it but I just wanted to make sure that was the case

They don’t clear 90% of it man. Sometimes they have a personal relationship with people they sample and get permission, but they don’t do the paperwork sample clearance game.

@mr x is right in that you have to, legally. But if you’re fine to skirt the law it’s rare that you run into trouble when you’re just selling a few hundred pieces of vinyl, tops. Most people if they find out they’ve been sampled on these type of projects don’t even bother pursuing it. The costs of litigating it are less than what they’d even get on an album like Tea in China.
