Expanded my shares in Jet Blue. I'm hoping for that merger with Virgin Airlines. I purchased another 300 shares of them today, so it will the second biggest stock in my portfolio in terms of cost.

Jet Blue, and it could be a great acquisition for them. They are predominately on the East Coast, and Virgin will be able to provide on the west coast, something Jet Blue has not yet tapped into. When operating in primarily the North East, you get a lot of poor weather that you have to deal with as a carrier. If they can expand out west, that is somewhere that they don't need to worry about weather costs nearly as much.

If you look at the past five major mergers between airlines, the numbers are.:banderas:.

I've got 12k with virgin America stocks. Hope jet blue buys them out next week. Virgin America was at 29 last week then shot up to 38 via the rumors

I think Jet Blue will be a very good buy and a great hold even if Air Alaska buys. However, from most of the articles I've been reading, Jet Blue is in a better position to buy them.

Nice man. It could be a win/win if they do.

why?

im waiting for the announcement of the buyout and the price to jump then sell

Buy the Rumor, Sell the News

In your case, sell the rumor before the news and lock profits in. Just my opinion, but it pays to move like that. The other folks here can speak to it to.
