Not so much leapfrogged but got 95% of results with like 1% of the cost, while making it open source for the entire world, anyone everyone can see it, read about it, and use it. You can even run it on your local machine. It more so exposes openai and other companies that are trying to create moats and closed source AI while hyping it up and asking for billions upon billions, a ton of gaslighting.
